Sponsored Learning Lab: Smarter Cities Start with Connected Parking: How to Build a Future-Ready Ecosystem
Cities are increasingly challenged by fragmented parking and curbside systems that operate in isolation, creating data gaps, duplicated work, and long-term technology risk. When platforms do not speak to one another, teams struggle to maintain accuracy and consistency in daily operations. This session explores how large, complex city programs show the value of moving from isolated tools to integrated, connected operations. Attendees will learn how unified data and interoperable systems significantly improve efficiencies across enforcement, sensors, payments, and collections. We also examine how connected ecosystems cut manual work and lower long-term costs by allowing phased, modular upgrades instead of full system replacements. This gives cities a more flexible and resilient path forward. *This sponsored content does not offer Certification points.

Doing More With Less: Real-World Lessons in Modernizing Municipal Parking
Municipal parking divisions are often expected to modernize operations, manage aging infrastructure, support downtown growth, and implement new technology, all while operating with limited staffing, funding, and resources.
This session shares the real-world story of the City of Appleton’s fast-paced parking transformation journey through the perspective of a new Parking Manager with just one year in the parking industry. Attendees will hear lessons learned from operational and technology challenges, maintenance and capital planning, vendor coordination, and obtaining support to modernize and rebrand a municipal parking system. The presentation will also highlight successful low-cost and interim solutions used to address operational needs while larger capital projects and long-term infrastructure improvements were still in development. The session will focus on what worked, what failed, and actionable strategies municipalities can use to navigate pushback, unrealistic timelines, limited resources, and increasing customer expectations while still building a more modern, community-focused parking system. Interactive polling and audience discussion will encourage attendees to share experiences, discuss common operational challenges, and crowdsource practical solutions that can help strengthen and support future municipal parking operations. Uncovering Hidden Parking Patterns with Drone-Based Data Collection and Analytics
Parking supply and demand are critical to redevelopment, event management, and mobility planning, but traditional methods often fall short. This session explores how drones improve data collection and analysis across large, complex areas. Case studies, including Detroit’s Eastern Market, demonstrate scalable, accurate, time-stamped insights. Attendees will learn how drone-based approaches enable full coverage, inform policy, support shared-use strategies, and identify opportunities to repurpose underutilized parking for housing or mixed-use development while reducing labor and costs.

Beyond the Binder: Equipping Customer Service Teams with AI
Customer calls and complaints aren't just operational noise. They're revenue moments. Whether a driver can't find their ticket, a payment system isn't cooperating, or a dispute needs to be resolved before someone drives away frustrated, the way your team responds matters. Yet too many operations still rely on static scripts and binders that slow people down and create inconsistency at exactly the wrong moment.
This session brings together three perspectives rarely in the same room: the technology builder, the operator on the ground, and the portfolio-level executive responsible for parking across one of the largest commercial real estate platforms in the country. James Paden, Chief Product Officer at Parker Technology, and Tamara King, Facility Manager with Denison Parking at Las Vegas North Premium Outlets, will walk through the live AI pilot currently running at the Simon Property Group-owned mall, sharing the unvarnished story of what it takes to introduce AI into a high-volume commercial environment. Dan Wilmes, Director of Parking Services and Operational Programs for Simon Property Group, will add the strategic lens: what this pilot means at scale, how ownership evaluates AI investments, and what operators need to understand about aligning tech decisions with broader property goals. This is not a polished post-mortem. The pilot is live, the learning is ongoing, and all three presenters will speak plainly about what's working, what required adjustment, and what the path forward looks like from each seat at the table. Disabled Parking: New Research & Rethinking Curb Management Best Practices
Did you know that paid public parking is not only a source of revenue for cities, but one of the most popular on-street parking demand management strategies? Late parking guru Donald Shoup popularized the hypothesis that on-street parking should be time limited and charged at a rate which encourages 85% occupancy. Ideally, this will ensure that drivers do not circle endlessly for parking, and access to local businesses and services is maintained. Join us for a presentation of the research, and an open dialogue about managing curb parking while supporting accessibility for people of all abilities.

Sponsored Learning Lab: From Concept to Curbside: The Road to Curb Digitization and Ticket-by-Mail in Pittsburgh
AI LPR and Ticket-by-Mail bring speed, safety, and consistency to on- and off-street parking enforcement by automating ticket issuance and delivering citations directly to vehicle owners. No confrontation required.
In Pittsburgh, Ticket-by-Mail has led to a 30% increase in the number of tickets issued. Now, we’re bringing that experience to the IPMI Parking & Mobility Conference & Expo 2026 to show how it can be done, so more municipalities can apply these insights in their own operations. This Learning Lab breaks down what it takes to upgrade to a Ticket-by-Mail parking enforcement system, from legislative changes that set the foundation, to insights from the initial pilot, through to rollout strategy and expansion. It also looks ahead to the next step: upgrading to AI LPR. The Pittsburgh Parking Authority will soon use AI-powered cameras to improve enforcement efficiency and create new opportunities for automation at scale. Expect a conversation focused on real-world challenges, legal hurdles, operational adjustments, new parking tech, and the process of navigating adoption and public feedback. The View from the Other Side: Why Your Board or Council Think Differently
Do you ever feel like you're pulling in opposite directions when the board isn't on board. To bridge the gap when mindsets and priorities diverge, ask questions that reveal constraints and clarify reasoning. When perspectives on priorities differ, asking strategic questions can uncover the 'why' behind decisions, expose hidden constraints, and bridge the communication gap.

Sponsored Learning Lab: Come On Down… Your Revenue Is on the Line! A Price-Is-Right–Style Parking Showdown
This high-energy, gamified Learning Lab explores how operational decisions in parking management can impact revenue, efficiency, and risk. Through six interactive cost-estimation scenarios, participants examine the hidden financial effects of common challenges such as equipment downtime, unnecessary service dispatches, rate configuration mistakes, credential management issues, manual audit preparation, and annual revenue leakage. In each round, teams estimate the potential cost of a real-world operational situation before the actual impact is revealed and discussed. The session highlights how better visibility, structured system oversight, and coordinated operational tools can improve response times, strengthen accountability, and support more accurate reporting. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how small inefficiencies can quietly compound into significant financial loss over time. The Learning Lab ultimately reframes parking operations not as a reactive process, but as a strategic opportunity to improve performance, reduce risk, and make more informed operational decisions through better system awareness and management practices.

Sponsored Learning Lab: From Asset-Level Pilot to Portfolio Standard: Why Most Parking Innovation Stalls and How the Best Owners Avoid It
Most parking innovation starts strong and stalls fast — stuck at one location, one pilot, one operator relationship that never scales. This session examines why, and what separates the asset owners who successfully standardize parking technology across their portfolios from those who don't. Drawing on real estate's broader lessons in technology adoption, Flash Chief Business Officer Peter Weiss outlines the infrastructure, partnerships, and decision-making frameworks that turn a promising pilot into a portfolio-wide performance standard. *This sponsored content does not offer Certification points.
