How to Mitigate Risk With a Multi-Vendor Approach to Your Mobility Tech Stack
Session sponsored by: Hallcon Corporation
In parking, the traditional “one-stop-shop” mentality for evaluating and implementing technologies is giving way to a more resilient strategy: a diversification of vendors in the mobility tech stack. This shift is essential for today’s agile business operations to mitigating vendor lock-in, removing dependencies, and future-proofing operations. By providing practical insights and strategies, this expert panel aims to guide both vendors and parking operators towards a more agile, adaptable, and risk-mitigated future through a multi-vendor approach. Just Say No to POTS: Implementing a University Mobility Master Plan, So it’s Not a Plan on the Shelf
Session sponsored by: Hallcon Corporation
Mobility master planning recognizes that at nearly every college campus, most people arriving daily live on campus or commute by means other than single-occupancy vehicles. This represents thousands of people who need access to, from, and around campus. Making it easier to use alternative transportation serves this majority better than adding more parking spaces. However, the plan means nothing if you don’t act. This presentation takes you through Texas A & M University’s execution of the process from RFP to implementation. Unlock the Power of Receiving Feedback: An Interactive Presentation
Session sponsored by: Hallcon Corporation
In personal and professional development, few practices hold as much transformative power as the art of giving and receiving feedback. The ability to receive feedback is a crucial yet often neglected skill. Feedback has been proven crucial to improve trainee performance, professionalism, documentation, and communication skills. Mastering the art of receiving feedback can lead to enhanced communication, stronger relationships, and actionable insights for personal and professional growth. With all these benefits, why is receiving feedback productively so hard? Barriers, including time constraints, fear of conflict, lack of confidence, and unclear priorities, can make receiving and acting on feedback challenging. From this session, attendees will learn to distinguish between different types of feedback, overcome common triggers that hinder acceptance, and gain strategies for effective implementation. Daily Choice Permits from Experiment to Normalization
Session sponsored by: Hallcon Corporation
In 2021, the University of California, Davis inverted the campus parking fee paradigm by introducing daily choice as its primary permitting system and limiting the issuance of long-term permits. Sponsored Learning Lab- The End of Two-Putt Parking: How the Big Navigation Players are Bringing Parking to the Forefront of Trip Planning
The big navigation platforms-Google, Waze & Apple Maps-have spent countless engineering hours building solutions to help you get from A to B. Until now, they’ve ignored the most painful part of the trip - finding a parking space at their destination. Drivers today point their car to their destination and, only once they arrive, do they begin to circle in search of a lot. This is now changing. Through partnerships with Flash, these platforms are now facilitating easier parking discovery, reservation & payment in advance, making trips faster and more convenient for over 200 million monthly drivers combined. Capitalizing on this massive opportunity will require owners and operators to embrace new digital capabilities and manage their online presence like never before. Join us to gain insights into effective strategies, pitfalls to avoid, and how to position your organization for success in this evolving landscape.

Shoptalk: Accessibility & Parking: Improving Accessibility Across the Board
Although the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act made discrimination against people with disabilities in transportation illegal, ensuring sufficient accessible parking remains an ongoing challenge. Municipalities face a daunting challenge; they must provide accessible parking for disabled patrons, meet the growing demands of an aging population, and tackle widespread abuse to ensure that spaces are available for those who need them. For millions of Americans with mobility disabilities, the inability to park near destinations can be a frequent occurrence that profoundly affects their ability to lead independent lives. Join us for a critically important discussion of how parking, transportation, and mobility professionals can make accessible parking more accessible for the patrons who need it.

University Facility Tour: The Ohio State University
Come tour The Ohio State University’s Columbus Campus! Ohio State is a nationally ranked public university and is the fifth-largest university in the United States. It is a land-grant, sea-grant and space-grant university established by the Legislature in 1870 and has a current annual budget that exceeds $9b. The Columbus Campus encompasses approximately 1700 acres, supporting over 60,000 students and more than 53,000 employees. It includes The Wexner Medical Center, which has over 1,400 patient beds across seven hospitals, and numerous event venues, including Ohio Stadium, with just over 102,000 seats.
Ohio State is the first US university to monetize its parking assets through a long-term lease and Concession Agreement. On this tour, in addition to seeing the iconic buildings noted above, you will hear about how Ohio State and CampusParc work together to provide mobility services to the campus. We will visit the transportation facility that houses Ohio State’s department of Transportation and Traffic Management, which operates both fixed route and on-demand shuttle services, providing almost five million rides per year and manages and services a campus fleet consisting of 930 vehicles (of which 285 are powered by alternative fuels), as well as manages a robust shared mobility program with Ebikes and scooters. CampusParc is the concessionaire and handles the parking side of the mobility equation, and partners with Propark Mobility to operate and maintain more than 38,000 parking spaces across campus. We will view several of the 17 parking garages on campus catering to patients, visitors, faculty, staff and students, and hear about how multiple departments work together to manage on average 186 events per month, with a total of 2,233 events in 2023. Transportation Research Board Meeting
Considering increasing challenges at the curb resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic with increasing intensity and diversity of demand and mobility technologies, there will be a need to expand research endeavors on best parking practices to manage the safe and efficient accessibility and movement of people and goods from/to destination land uses in our communities. With the emergence of EVs into the transportation system and the need for charging infrastructure, there will be a need for research that aims at addressing efficient operations, maintenance, design, resiliency, and future proofing the parking management of EVs and future technologies. This TRB subcommittee promotes, facilitates, and disseminates responsive research on parking management and pricing, especially parking behavior and demand management. The subcommittee collaborates on defining research needs and disseminating practice ready research with external industry partners, such as the International Parking and Mobility Institute.
