Measure, Manage, Maintain: 3 Ms to Prepare your Team for Continuity
Session sponsored by: Hallcon Corporation
Today's teams face new challenges to success. With many teams working virtually and team members working flexible hours, we find ourselves hitting new roadblocks to communication and continuity. Some of the basic tenants of working in tandem need to be re-examined to better maintain a consistent result. Topping that list is the process that teams use to communicate the ways we measure, manage, and maintain. We will discuss why measuring and reporting findings needs to be consistent throughout our organizations and learn to determine which areas need to be managed and maintained. This session will discuss the importance of continuity in these three tasks and evaluate tools and our teams can leverage to identify the items or resources that need to be consistently monitored. We will create a short list of ideas and tips to improve our workflow while easing the workload. This engaging and interactive session will allow you to reflect on your team’s growth trajectory. The Importance of Culture: How it Can Help us Achieve our Goals
Session sponsored by: Walter P Moore & Associates
An unrelenting focus on the guest experience continues to pay off handsomely for Houston Airports – and most important, for its millions of passengers each month. In January 2022, William P. Hobby Airport received notice that it had become the first and only five-star rated airport throughout the state of Texas and North America in the Skytrax World Airport Star Rating for 2022. Hobby Airport excelled in all 29 rating categories to achieve the exceptional honor. Achieving this status began with Houston Airport System taking a comprehensive look at their corporate strategy. They then devised a plan, centered around shifting their culture to become more customer-centric. This session will examine the road to obtaining a five-star Skytrax rating at Hobby International Airport. Shoptalk: Managing the Dynamic Curb
Sponsored by: Passport Labs, Inc.
Curb management challenges abounded pre-COVID, and cities met the challenge with innovative programming and operational changes. Cities and operators created mapping, pricing, and management models to address TNCs, metered parking, transit, and commercial loading, as well as a myriad of first- and last-mile options. They launched new programs and pilots to address new delivery demands as well as outdoor dining to create safer, touchless options at the curb. The rebound at the curb will prove more challenging than ever. Join industry professionals to discuss changing curb demands, with a particular focus on how to address commercial loading for more efficient and streamlined curbside operations. Speaker(s): Mark Schleyer, CAPP, Regional Sales Director, Passport Labs, Inc.

What You Said is NOT What I Heard
Session sponsored by: Hallcon Corporation
Join Kim Jackson CAPP, Richard Easley CAPP and Gary Means CAPP for some award-winning, Oscar level performances as they (and participants from the audience) explore some conversations, comments and innuendos often heard and felt in the workplace. This session will be a new approach that is innovative, fun, informative, and educational. We will use humor as well as the possibility of uncomfortable/challenging situational conversations as a way to shed light on how people different from you may misunderstand your statements or just the fact that many things said are not appropriate for the workplace or anywhere else in some cases. Sometimes what you say as a compliment may actually be a very offensive statement to the recipient. Would you still say it if you knew it was offensive? Does that make it ‘OK’ to say if you are unaware of the pain it causes? Sometimes you just don’t know what you don’t know. This interactive session is a good start to learning ‘what you don’t know’. Speaker(s): Gary A. Means, CAPP, Executive Director, Lexington & Fayette County Parking Authority Kim Jackson, CAPP, President, KEJ Associates LLC Richard Easley, CAPP, President, E-Squared Engineering

Opening General Session - Lead Yourself First: Lessons in Adversity & Resilience
Sponsored by: PayByPhone US Inc.
Army combat veteran, social entrepreneur, author, and homesteader, Mike Erwin, will keynote the 2022 IPMI Parking & Mobility Conference & Expo. Mike has dedicated his life to serving the nation and empowering people to build positive relationships---and become more resilient. In the military, VUCA is a phrase that describes the ‘fog of war’. It's also an accurate way of characterizing the world since March 2020—volatile, unpredictable, chaotic, and ambiguous. A VUCA environment creates relentless challenges, but also opportunities. Mike will share insights, experiences, and strategies to grow more resilient in the face of stress and adversity. Mike will draw on experiences from Iraq and Afghanistan as well as lessons learned while researching his first book and share why people must lead themselves first. He will focus on just how to do that in today’s digital environment. When we lead ourselves first in times of high stress, we can prevent burn-out and address other challenges that arise for our teams, our families, and our organizations. Adversity is inevitable, as we have learned more then ever in the past few years, but by leading ourselves first we can drive resiliency, and learn to adapt and persevere through adversity. Join Mike and the IPMI community on the journey to greater resiliency at the Opening General Session at #IPMI2022.
