Address, Mitigate, Recover: Effective Emergency Preparedness

Presented by: Thomas Hartley, CAPP, Lissette Hernandez; Florida International University

It's critical to establish a concise, well-organized emergency operations response plan, but do you know how? Learn the key elements you need to consider to effectively prepare detailed activities and roles before, during, and after an emergency. These roles and processes should be clearly defined and communicated to address, mitigate. and recover should an emergency arise. Understand important elements such as data gathering, assessment, monitoring and evaluating all essential components before, during, and after an emergency.

Objectives:
  • Describe how to develop an emergency response plan.    
  • Recognize how to survey, train, and provide resources for your team to respond to an emergency.
  • Explore how to implement solutions to mitigate risk in an emergency.  

2:00 pm – 3:00 pm 


Increasing Revenue with Efficient Enforcement

Presented by: Melina Morokhovich and Poppy Guloien, T2 Systems, Inc.

Many parking operations are looking for ways to generate more revenue following the COVID-19 pandemic. Enforcing parking and issuing citations is a common revenue source for parking operations, but efficient enforcement can take an operation’s revenue to the next level. This session will cover current and future trends and common challenges and pitfalls related to enforcement, then show how technology solutions can increase enforcement efficiency and positively affect the bottom line.

Objectives:
  • Recognize trends in enforcement, including the effects of COVID, and where enforcement is headed.    
  • Identify challenges and pitfalls related to enforcement.    
  • Discuss how parking technology can increase enforcement efficiency and positively impact the bottom line.  

4:00 pm – 5:00 pm 


The College Parking Playoff!

Presented by: Brett Wood, CAPP, Wood Solutions Group; JC Porter, CAPP, Arizona State University Parking & Transportation; Samuel Patterson, University of Mississippi; and Gabe Mendez, CAPP, University of Wisconsin

In honor of the unique IPMI Conference occurring around the same time as the college football playoff, we will hold a College Parking Playoff: Three universities vying for the title of best college parking program. The competition will include comparisons of parking and transportation offerings, customer service, and adaptation to changing times. The audience will be invited to participate and vote on the results with the winner being crowned in Tampa (actual trophy included)!

Objectives:
  • Define what successful universities are doing to adapt to change.    
  • Compare how programs are implementing new transportation.    
  • Discuss the latest trends in customer service.
