Smart Cities Pavilion- City Tech Collaborative
The Millennium Gateway Innovation Lab
City Tech Collaborative’s New Cross-Sector Collaboration Shapes the Future of Parking
The Millennium Gateway Innovation Lab is a groundbreaking partnership to shape the future of the parking industry and urban mobility. As a consortium of asset owners, parking and mobility operators, technology providers, policymakers, and other thought leaders, Lab participants work to integrate parking more fully into urban transportation systems, develop tech-enabled solutions for smart infrastructure management, and cultivate value-added services and space uses.
The Lab is focused on developing and deploying practical, innovative solutions that can be adopted across North America. With an urgent focus on addressing COVID-19 challenges, the Lab is currently prioritizing information and technology platforms that will comprise a cyberphysical foundation for current and future business opportunities. City Tech and Lab participants have defined a parking innovation roadmap that includes sensor deployment, high-definition geospatial mapping, automated vehicle and freight pilots, and other solution development that would not be possible without a solid tech foundation.
Millennium Garages serves as an anchor testbed, with 9,000 parking spaces, 3.8 million square feet, and an 86-year municipal concession agreement to operate four connected parking facilities in the heart of downtown Chicago.
The Lab is part of the
Advanced Mobility Initiative at City Tech Collaborative, an urban solutions accelerator that tackles problems too big for any single sector or organization to solve alone.
